OUR DOCTRINEThe Primary definition of the word 'doctrine' is instruction. It also means, "a principle accepted as valid and authoritative". At Covenant International Church (CIC) our doctrine is derived solely and specifically from the Bible. The Bible is the only infallible, inerrant, immutable Word of God. We will never apologize for its holy principles; neither will we placate to people who oppose the Word of the living God. Following are the cardinal doctrines of the Bible to which we adhere at CIC. STATEMENT OF FAITHThe "Tenets of Faith" listed below are not intended to be an exhaustive source of material for biblical doctrine, but rather a concise summary of the cardinal doctrines of Scripture to which we adhere at Covenant International Church. THE SCRIPTURESWe believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of God. (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21) THE GODHEADWe believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three (3) persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:1; Ephesians 4:4-6) DIVINITY OF CHRISTWe believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life and in His miracles. We also believe in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection and in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, where He reigns as King, we believe in His personal return to earth in power and glory. (Acts 2:22-36; Revelation 19:11-16) MAN-HIS FALL AND REDEMPTION We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, spiritual regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. This salvation is received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Messiah, Savior and Lord…and not as a result of good works. (John 3:5; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9) DIVINE HEALING: We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer. (Isaiah 53:5; I Peter 2:24; James 5:14-15) BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRITWe believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it. (Acts 2:39; 10:44-48; 19:1-6) SANCTIFICATIONWe believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by Whose indwelling the Christian is able to live a holy life. (Romans 8:5-14; Ephesians 4:20-32) RESURRECTION AND THE RETURN OF OUR LORD:We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of eternal life, and the lost unto resurrection of eternal damnation. (John 5:28-29; I Corinthians 15:50-58; Revelation 20:11-15.) The angles said, "This same Jesus… shall so come in like manner" (Acts 1:11). His coming is eminent. When He comes, "… the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air…" (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
